9×12.5 Vintage Karaja Carpet

:: Horizontally elongated center medallion with long stemmed dramatic scale finials atop a covered geometric field in floral cross-sections, wrapped by a reciprocating samovar / turtle design motif main border. Gem tone coloration throughout augmented in post production (immediately after import most likely) painted shades applied to the face of the carpet, adding to the unique fad during the period of time in which it was made. Colors and shades include: Cherry red, brick red, navy blue, indigo blue, sapphire blue, ruby red, ivory, raspberry red, blush, dusty gold, and more. Condition notes: Mostly even wear across to knot heads with small isolated areas of foundation showing through. Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or restored. Tatter to ends. Recently professionally cleaned ready for in-home use! Many years of enjoyment to come with this hand knotted Persian Karaja carpet made in Persia circa 1920’s vintage. Size measures 9′ x 12’3″.
